Proposition 10

On November 1998, California voters passed the California Children and Families Act of 1998. The act levies a tax on cigarettes and other tobacco products with the intent to provide funding for early childhood development programs, in addition to establishing a State Commission and local County Commissions for this purpose.

Request for Proposals

Notice of Intent to Make an Award: During a Special Meeting on May 25th, 2017, First 5 Imperial Commissioners deliberated on selection of applications for the first step in the award process to funds projects through its for Request for Proposal (RFP) General Grant. All applicNOITMAAations submitted for the 2017-2019 funding cycle were reviewed and Commissioners worked to issue the Notice of Intent to Make an Award for applicants that may be selected for funding for Fiscal Years 2017-2018 and 2018-2019.

Commissioners selected 11 Projects from agencies interested in applying for Proposition 10 funds that would be used to provide services to children 0-5 years of age, their families and/or caregivers. These services include programs that focus on early care and education, strengthening families and family support, and child health. The total allocation for the Projects that were selected for this funding cycle is $1,500,660.00 for Fiscal Year 2017-2018 (year one of the two-year funding cycle).
