Proposition 10

On November 1998, California voters passed the California Children and Families Act of 1998. The act levies a tax on cigarettes and other tobacco products with the intent to provide funding for early childhood development programs, in addition to establishing a State Commission and local County Commissions for this purpose.

Request for Proposals

Notice of Intent to Make an Award: During a Special Meeting on May 19th, 2022, First 5 Imperial Commissioners deliberated on selection of applications for the intent to make an award process to funds projects through its Request for Proposal (RFP) General Grant Application FY 22-25. All proposals submitted NoItMAsmfor the 2022-2025 funding cycle were reviewed and Commissioners worked to issue the Notice of Intent to Make an Award for applicants that may be selected for funding for Fiscal Years 2022-2023, 2023-2024 and 2024-2025.

Commissioners selected 7 Projects from agencies interested in applying for Proposition 10 funds that would be used to provide services to children 0-5 years of age, their families and/or caregivers. These services include programs that focus on early care and education, strengthening families and family support, and child health. The total allocation for the RFP General Grant Applications that were selected for this funding cycle is $1,224,719.00 for the first year of Fiscal Year 2022-2023 (year one of the three-year funding cycle).
