On November 1998, California voters passed the California Children and Families Act of 1998. The act levies a tax on cigarettes and other tobacco products with the intent to provide funding for early childhood development programs, in addition to establishing a State Commission and local County Commissions for this purpose.

Community Development Mini-Grants

BabywHat2Community Development Mini-Grant STEP Two Applicants: First 5 Imperial has allocated $150,000 for the purpose of awarding a number of mini-grant projects for funding for fiscal year 2021-2022 The maximum award is $25,000 for individualStep2applications. The course of action entails a two-step process, where potential applicants submit a Statement of Interest to Apply form under Step 1 of this process. The Commission selects applicants submitting Statement of Interest to Apply forms for Step 2, thus inviting selected applicants to apply by completing and submitting a Community Development Mini-grant Application. As a result of COVID-19, applicants are required to address services that would permit realizing activities consistent with social distancing and other guidleines.Step 2 proposals are due by May 20, 2021. Of the 13 agencies that submitted a Statement of Interest to Apply forms, eight were selected to continue on to Step 2, and therefore were invited to compete for a Community Development Mini-Grant award for the 2020-2021 funding cycle. Mini-Grant Step 2 Application Deadline: June 16, 2020. Applications must submitted to the following email address bead@co.imperial.ca.us by 11:59 pm on June 16, 2020.
