On November 1998, California voters passed the California Children and Families Act of 1998. The act levies a tax on cigarettes and other tobacco products with the intent to provide funding for early childhood development programs, in addition to establishing a State Commission and local County Commissions for this purpose.

Community Development Mini-Grants

BabywHat2Community Development Mini-Grant STEP Two Applicants: First 5 Imperial has allocated $150,000 for the purpose of awarding a number of mini-grant projects for funding for fiscal year 2020-2021. The maximum award is $25,000 for individualStep2applications. The course of action entails a two-step process, where potential applicants submit a Statement of Interest to Apply form under Step 1 of this process. The Commission selects applicants submitting Statement of Interest to Apply forms for Step 2, thus inviting selected applicants to apply by completing and submitting a Community Development Mini-grant Application. As a result of COVID-19 the process has been delayed, and the time-line modified, where Step 2 selections are due by June 16, 2020. At the May 7, 2020 Special Meeting of the Commission seven agencies, that submitted Statement of Interest to Apply forms, four were selected to continue on to Step 2, and therefore were invited to compete for a Community Development Mini-Grant award for the 2020-2021 funding cycle. Step 2 applicants can download copies of the application guidelines and relevant forms by clicking on the following links:

 

Mini-Grant Step 2 Application Deadline: June 16, 2020. Applications must submitted to the following email address bead@co.imperial.ca.us by 11:59 pm on June 16, 2020.
